Reflecting Web of the Anthropocene (An Apology to San Francesco), 2013. 22 ft. x 35 ft. x 47 ft
Installation for Beyond the Mystical Landscape/Otre il passageio mistico, special project for the 55th Venice Biennale, Island of Saint Francis of the Desert, Laguna Venezia, sponsored by Cultural Ministry of Venice (MiBAC), and Ministry of Culture, Rome. Installation in garden of San Franciscan monastery: olive trees, 300 plastic water bottle bottoms, glass crystals, mirrors, satellite dish.

This installation connects the commodification of water to the corruption of it by chemical leaching of the plastic bottle and broadcasts an apology for this. The work is a mirrored, filamentous web of strands of tiny mirrors and the round bottom parts of hundreds of plastic water bottles, combined with a mirrored TV satellite dish. The reflections of the mirrors were seen across the lagoon on the island of Burano, signaling and broadcasting the apology to San Francesco and the lagoon itself.
